Get Your Five a Day With Vegetable Juicing Recipes

There is no doubt that vegetables are good for us, but what many people don't realize is that much of the nutrition in whole vegetables is bound by fiber. While fiber is good for us and has many benefits for the body, vitamins that are trapped in it are difficult to assimilate. For this reason, many of the vitamins in whole vegetables pass through the body unused. In contrast, the body can absorb the vitamins in vegetable juices completely. Fiber also makes it difficult for the body to use the water in vegetables, but the fresh home made vegetable juice contains plenty of this vital element.

Most people can consume a lot more vegetables by preparing these vegetable juicing recipes than they would if they were to eat the vegetables themselves. New recommendations suggest that we should be eating 5 serving of vegetables a day, but many people find this difficult when they are eating the bulky fiber; in fact, the majority of us only eat one and a half serving of vegetables even on a good day. Many juicing recipes, however, contents may equal the recommended five servings in a single glass, making it easy to get your daily quota. Vegetable juicing recipes also contain many different vegetables, so they provide essential variety. Finally, these juicing recipes contain far fewer calories than the sum of the vegetables within them, which makes them a great weight loss tool.

Celery- does a body good

Many are now becoming aware of the amazing health benefits and nutritional value of celery.  Celery is a natural diuretic, which may help in flushing toxins out of the body. Celery is also rich in potassium and sodium making it a great natural electrolyte formula. Many fitness gurus tout celery juice recipes as a top choice for electrolyte replacement after massive workouts.
Since celery is a low-caloric food with bulk dietary fiber, it is used a great deal in natural weight loss diets. It provides dieters with a "negative caloric" effect due to the fact that while your body digests the celery it actually uses more calories during the process than what the celery contains.

Simple Celery Juice Recipe

- 7 stalks of celery
Wash them thoroughly, put them through your favorite juicer and enjoy.
For some people celery juice alone may be a bit bland, below are some tasty celery juice recipe blends for your enjoyment as well as health and well being.

Celery Juice Recipe with Apples

4 Celery Stalks
2 Apples

Celery and Carrots Juice recipe

3 Celery stalks
4 Carrots (large)

Celery Juice Recipe with Strawberry

5 Celery Stalks
½ to ¾ cup of strawberries

Detox Celery Juice Recipe with Lemon

4 or 5 celery stalks
1 large lemon
Note: If this is too tart, you may sweeten it a bit by adding 1 to 2 apples and lowering the number of celery stalks to 2 or 3.

Very Berry

2 cups of strawberries
2 cups of blueberries
1 1/2 cups of raspberries

Berries are among the quickest and easiest of fruits to juice. The only prepping they need is a quick rinse. Strawberries are a small exception as they will need to be topped before juicing. All berries are a great source of antioxidants such as anthocyanins, flavonoids and ellagic acid, all of which have been associated with anti-cancer and anti-heart disease benefits.

Alkaline Juice

 1 cup of spinach
  1/2 cucumber
2 stalks of celery including leaves
  3 carrots
  1/2 apple

Juicing Tip: Juice cucumbers with their skins on. The dark green skin is a great source of chlorophyll, a phytochemical that can help build red blood cells. Cucumbers also contain silica, a mineral that is good for the skin. Make sure to wash them before making cucumber homemade juice recipes.

Lemony Apple

2 apples
1 lemon
 1 ″ slice of ginger

Juicing Tip: Juice the apples with their skins on. The skin is the most abundant area of the apple for flavonoid content. This will produce cloudy but more nutritious (and still delicious) apple juicer recipes.

This healthy juicer recipe also makes a great remedy for colds.

Jalapeno Hummus

I love hummus, and hot things, so this one is perfect for me.

1 (15oz can of chickpeas) rinse and drained
2 tablespoons Tahini (is ground sesame seed paste, like a runny peanut butter texture)
1 Jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
2 tablespoons lime or lemon juice
2 tablespoons water
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

combine all ingredients except cilantro in food processor or blender and pulse until smooth, adding a little water if hummus is too stiff. Transfer to a serving bowl and sprinkle with cilantro and drizzle some good for you olive oil on top.
Scoop up with peta bread or spread on a sandwich as the spread.
