Get Your Five a Day With Vegetable Juicing Recipes

There is no doubt that vegetables are good for us, but what many people don't realize is that much of the nutrition in whole vegetables is bound by fiber. While fiber is good for us and has many benefits for the body, vitamins that are trapped in it are difficult to assimilate. For this reason, many of the vitamins in whole vegetables pass through the body unused. In contrast, the body can absorb the vitamins in vegetable juices completely. Fiber also makes it difficult for the body to use the water in vegetables, but the fresh home made vegetable juice contains plenty of this vital element.

Most people can consume a lot more vegetables by preparing these vegetable juicing recipes than they would if they were to eat the vegetables themselves. New recommendations suggest that we should be eating 5 serving of vegetables a day, but many people find this difficult when they are eating the bulky fiber; in fact, the majority of us only eat one and a half serving of vegetables even on a good day. Many juicing recipes, however, contents may equal the recommended five servings in a single glass, making it easy to get your daily quota. Vegetable juicing recipes also contain many different vegetables, so they provide essential variety. Finally, these juicing recipes contain far fewer calories than the sum of the vegetables within them, which makes them a great weight loss tool.

Celery- does a body good

Many are now becoming aware of the amazing health benefits and nutritional value of celery.  Celery is a natural diuretic, which may help in flushing toxins out of the body. Celery is also rich in potassium and sodium making it a great natural electrolyte formula. Many fitness gurus tout celery juice recipes as a top choice for electrolyte replacement after massive workouts.
Since celery is a low-caloric food with bulk dietary fiber, it is used a great deal in natural weight loss diets. It provides dieters with a "negative caloric" effect due to the fact that while your body digests the celery it actually uses more calories during the process than what the celery contains.

Simple Celery Juice Recipe

- 7 stalks of celery
Wash them thoroughly, put them through your favorite juicer and enjoy.
For some people celery juice alone may be a bit bland, below are some tasty celery juice recipe blends for your enjoyment as well as health and well being.

Celery Juice Recipe with Apples

4 Celery Stalks
2 Apples

Celery and Carrots Juice recipe

3 Celery stalks
4 Carrots (large)

Celery Juice Recipe with Strawberry

5 Celery Stalks
½ to ¾ cup of strawberries

Detox Celery Juice Recipe with Lemon

4 or 5 celery stalks
1 large lemon
Note: If this is too tart, you may sweeten it a bit by adding 1 to 2 apples and lowering the number of celery stalks to 2 or 3.

Very Berry

2 cups of strawberries
2 cups of blueberries
1 1/2 cups of raspberries

Berries are among the quickest and easiest of fruits to juice. The only prepping they need is a quick rinse. Strawberries are a small exception as they will need to be topped before juicing. All berries are a great source of antioxidants such as anthocyanins, flavonoids and ellagic acid, all of which have been associated with anti-cancer and anti-heart disease benefits.

Alkaline Juice

 1 cup of spinach
  1/2 cucumber
2 stalks of celery including leaves
  3 carrots
  1/2 apple

Juicing Tip: Juice cucumbers with their skins on. The dark green skin is a great source of chlorophyll, a phytochemical that can help build red blood cells. Cucumbers also contain silica, a mineral that is good for the skin. Make sure to wash them before making cucumber homemade juice recipes.

Lemony Apple

2 apples
1 lemon
 1 ″ slice of ginger

Juicing Tip: Juice the apples with their skins on. The skin is the most abundant area of the apple for flavonoid content. This will produce cloudy but more nutritious (and still delicious) apple juicer recipes.

This healthy juicer recipe also makes a great remedy for colds.

Questions about juicing fresh fruits and vegetables

What are the benefits of juicing fresh fruits and vegetables over eating them?
When you juice, the produce is broken down into a very digestible form that is easy to absorb. Many people have reported that they weren't absorbing nutrition from their food; it was passing right through them. When they started juicing, their health made a dramatic improvement because they could absorb the nutrients from the juice easily.
Juice is therapeutic because the body doesn't have to work hard to break it down. It's also loaded with enzymes so it spares the enzyme- producing organs. It's also easy to consume and allows people the chance to consume many more vegetables than they would normally eat. Also, many parts of plants they would probably throw away, such as broccoli stems, asparagus stems and celery leaves can be juiced.

I buy lots of juice from the store, so why do I have to go through all the trouble of juicing fresh fruits and vegetables?
Juice in containers, by law, has to be pasteurized. [The pasteurization process] kills vitamins and enzymes along with biophotons. Store-bought juice offers very little nutrition.

How much juice should I drink?
From one glass to a quart a day; with 2-3 glasses of green juice, people start to notice a difference.

Is is okay for me to mix fruit and vegetable juices?
Yes, it's fine to mix them. They are broken down and the nutrients are easily absorbed.

What is a “juice feast?”
Juice feasting is drinking one to two quarts of juice per day and just drinking juice— not eating solid food.

Is juicing good for you to build up your immune system?
Vegetables juice is very effective in alkalinizing our blood pH. An acidic environment breeds diseases, while an alkaline internal environment is less disease-prone.Juices provides a concentrated dose of antioxidant such as vitamin A, C and E, beta-carotene, plus a wide range of phytochemicals – a lot of which has notable anti-cancer properties.

Is juicing good for you to improve digestive health?
Fresh juices contain a variety of enzymes in large quantity – the fresher the juice, the higher the concentration of enzymes. These enzymes are critical for the digestion and absorption of food, for conversion of food substances into body tissue, and for the production of energy at the cellular level. Juicing breaks down cell wall and allows all the nutrients to be easily absorbed. This gives our digestive system a break and allows it to heal. It is critical that the juice is fresh, not store-bought. Store-bought juices are pasteurized, a process during which the enzymes are deactivated due to high heat.

Is juicing good for you to lose weight?
Toxicity is one of the main reasons that our body retains fat and weight. Our body uses fat cells to bind up fat-soluble toxins, to prevent them from circulating in the body. The only way to allow the body to release excess fat is to help it release the toxins that are stored within the fat cells. The antioxidants in juice helps bind up the toxins and allow them to be carried out of the body. Juices also facilitate elimination and colon detox, which is a critical part in the detoxification process. Juices deliver a satisfying experience with relatively few calories. Including juice in the diet can reduce the overall calorie intake. Cravings are often caused by nutrient deficiency, and are a way that our body is telling us that we need certain nutrients. Juices are a concentrated source of nutrients, and they deliver them in a way that is readily and easily absorbable. When the body gets the nutrients it needs, you will have fewer cravings and will be less likely to overeat, especially on calorie-dense, unhealthy foods.

Is juicing good for you to increase energy?
Juicing allows the nutrients from the vegetables immediately available for the body to utilize. The enzymes in the juice also aid digestion of the nutrients. The body does not have to expense energy to digest the food, leaving more energy for other activities. Also, the nutrients are not “trapped” within the cell walls; they can be absorbed and assimilated much faster, providing the body with a quick shot of energy – without the crash that comes with sugar or caffeine. Juices aid the body’s detoxification process. The less energy the body needs to use on processing and eliminating toxins, the more energy is available for other activities.
